Tuesday Tails ~ Pirate Q&A ~The Secrets of The Voyages of Captain Basil Revealed ~ Part VIII & Part IX

Welcome to

 Pirate Q&A

The Secrets of The Voyages of Captain Basil Revealed

So me seafaring pirating fiends, are ye ready to discover all the secrets, and get thee answers to thee questions that have been keeping ye awake night aftur night??

And as purromised ye scurvy scallywags Part 8 & 9 are here today...

If ye missed the previous Q&A just be clicking the links below:

Now that we be 'aving that out of thee way, let's be getting on with divulging the answers from  Part VIII

Here's the questions fur Part VIII:

OMC, mew had a mini frigate hiding within The Crimson Revenge, how the flip did mew get that?

Well as mew know I have contacts, and while I can't actually reveal the source of those contacts let's just say I was owed a rather large favour from the Navy and when I called in that said favour I was offured the warship.  It obviously came with terms and conditions, that is why I disguised it with a hull make-offur so it appeared to be nothing more than a seemingly benign pirate vessel circa 1700's! MOL

What about the crew of The Filthy Pearl, are they really toast and chump?

Indeed they were toasted and furry much chumped!  But then on the brighter side we purrobably saved quite a few vessels and lives from a dasdardly fate if it and the crew had survived.

Where on earth do mew get all these cool weapons, like seriously?

Seriously, as I mentioned earlier I have to protect my sources, but mew remember that I was an F.I.B. Agent [Field Intelligence Bureau] a while back and during my time there I did manage to amass quite a good haul of weapons and tech.

What's Horice's boggle?

Horice at that point was torn.  Torn between a misplaced loyalty to Amsted and the island and us, his furst real friends in a long. long time.   I suppose when mew are in a situation where mew know mew should do one thing but really want to do another, it makes fur a squirrelly mind and then all kinds of conflicted thoughts begin to have a war in your head.  Luckily Horice chose the path at the end.

That's two things blown up today, will there be a third?

No, not today.

How come the weapons were still operable after the Kraken nearly crushed the boat?

It was only the wooden outer hull of the ship that was fractured and damaged, the supremely strong steel guts of The Crimson Revenge hardly had a dent. The weapons system was not impaired in the slightest, thank goodness so the torpedo delivery system wurked just fine and dandy!  The damage looked much wurse than it actually was, as when we came to repair The Crimson Revenge after using the miniaturizing ray gun with a reverse polarity and it reverted to it's normal size back in the dry dock on level 11, of the now not so secret bunker, what we found was mainly supurrficial breakages, fractures and heavy splintering to wooden facade and masts.  Yet with a few simple tools and a Black and Decker Wurkmate plus a pile of new wood our beautiful ship is back to its former glory.

Amber is also a whizz with a sewing machine and made new sails too.

Are mew really having sushi fur dinner?

Yes, and I'm sure many of mew have now seen our recipe section for a 101 ways to serve up Kraken! MOL

What are mew going back to that crazy island fur?

Treasure and oodles of it, wouldn't mew go back fur that?

Can mew trust Horice?

Mew know I listen to my gut instinct and with Horice I felt that I could trust him, as I'm not usually wrong about things.  Well sometimes I am, but mainly I'm not! MOL  It was touch and go a few times, but I always felt that he would do the right thing in the end and he did.

And that weird Amsted dude, what's his story?

Amsted was one weird dude, and to be purrfectly honest we still don't know much about him.  We even tried gently extract intel from Horice but he just clams up, so we figure that Amsted really did a number on the poor Hefflelump, but they say time heals all wounds so maybe one day we'll find out the true story.

And here's some more questions from our pawesome buddies - we know we answered these at the time, but we didn't have all the facts, now we have more....

Erin the Cat  said: Cap'n I think you need to watch a stern! as there may be trouble ahead and behind with that Horice.

I'll keep me north eye on the stern and the other on Horice! MOL

The Tabbies of Trout Towne asked:  thiz iz kinda like de cloakin dee vize de klingons haz?

The Crimson Revenge is a bit like a Klingon Warburd with all its high tech hidden beneath a seemingly benign hull, that's just how I like to travel, inconspicuous but with majorly epic back up! MOL MOL

Flynn said: I'm a bit worried about Horice. Just whose side is he on?

We were too Flynn at that point in time, but he turned out to be on ours, thankfully!

Now onto our second revelations fur today

Here's the questions fur Part IX:

If mew need a recap, here's the link fur Part IX

Fur flips sake, mew guy's really attract some weirdo's into your life, how do mew do it?

Mew have a point, and yes we do seem to attract some rather unseemly characters, usually they are ones from my past as an F.I.B. Agent who want to settle some ancient score with me because they feel wronged in some way ??? my answer to that is, if they weren't doing things they shouldn't then they would have neffur met me! MOL

Though in this instance we were just in the wrong place at the wrong time, or if mew look at it another way, The Creator dude made it happen so he could deliver his message to me.

What the issue with the treasure?

This is also another question we can't really answer.  We did ask Horice about it and why it was so important that the treasure stayed on the island.  The only thing he said was that the gold was magic and that it made a really good conductor.   This statement troubled me fur quite some time until I realised he wasn't talking about Orchestra's but metal conductivity! MOL

I asked him about it on several occasions, as to what needed a conduit and why the gold was it, but unfortunately he has refused to supply me with a straight answer, saying that the least I know about it the safer I'll be.

If mew took it, would it really be the end of the world as we know it?

Appurently yes. But this can't be disproved as we neffur got the chance.

Is Horice going to pay mew back fur destroying your drone?

Well, he has kind of by helping up rebuild The Crimson Revenge, mew'd be surprised how nimble and nifty those trunks can be!  So I call it even-stevens and Humphrey has built several new drones since then anyway.

BTW that was one seriously cool drone, where'd mew get it from?

It was a prototype which Humphrey designed and built, in fact he's quite the inventor on the side.  Let's just hope that he doesn't want to incorporate his Hot Sauce into anything though!  MOL

Is Amsted really that much of a nutter that he'd execute mew fur trying to take the treasure?

Amsted was doing his job, protecting the island - but yes he's a raving nutter.

So Horice is really on your side, well maybe, he's just a little conflicted right?

We answered that in part 8.  But yes the poor Hefflelump was furry conflicted.

But seriously he's got your backs, right?

When we need him, he was there.

And, how are mew going to get home?

Horice engineered our escape but he has still remained quite vague on this subject too, saying that it's better we don't know and something about the cost.   As time goes by I'm sure more will come to light, but mew know the saying 'mew can take a Hefflelump to the beach but can't make him swim' that old adage is right on the nail, only time will reveal those secrets.

And here's some more questions from our pawesome buddies - we know we answered these at the time, but we didn't have all the facts, now we have more....

Erin the Cat said: I thought that Krakens brother may have surfaced and got ye.

No, luckily fur us that was the last one, that we know to.

The Tabbies of Trout Towne N we will most shirely bring sum hammickz, samiches, friez, a few cold onez, sum snax, sum donutz AND purrhaps a hankee

Tabbies, snacks are always a pawesome idea, I'm glad mew thought of it!  No hanky was required though, thank goodness!

Flynn  commented: That treasure must be really special if it could mean the end of the world if you take it.

Appurently so, it's a good job we didn't get our mittens on it then! MOL MOL

Dezi asked: Will da world end?

Dezi, yes but only if we'd taken the treasure!

Seville asked: That strange, green light... Whatever could it be?

It was some strange magnetic field generated by the island, Horice induced this phenomenon yet still remains secretive about it.  If we find out more we'll be sure to impart that info as it comes to light.

So until next weeks final Pirate Q&A segment, shiver me timbers, get thee a bottle o'nip rum and a hammock, and we'll be seeing mew on the morrow!

Aharrrrrrrrrrrrrr me hearties and sail the highs sea's safely, until next time

Hearty purrs and salty sea-spray head rubs
