No More Flip Flops Fur Mew! on The Sunday Selfies Blog Hop with Cat on my Head

Supurr Sunday Salutations Pawesome Pals

Welcome to another selfie selection, and today as we're still in kind of a limbo non-blogging scenario due to the P.A's inability to stay upright on a level surface and her head-butting the door-frame, we have officially banned all flip flops furever.  She's on the mend although as the day wears on she's getting random headaches, but that aside she had a lucky trip, a furry lucky trip as it could have been so much wurse.

So our theme today is, and our look says it all:-

No More Flip Flops Fur Mew!

Here's wishing mew the best kind of Sunday, and we hope to see mew on Tuesday bright and breezy fur Part III of The Last Big Jolly all being well, pending no disasters again - we'll try our bestest to get it posted!

There's Always One In The Furrmily & Freaking Trespassers! on The Pet Parade Blog Hop #206 with Rascal & Rocco Co-Hosted by Basil & Barking from the Bayou

Pawesome Friday greeting wunderpurr furriends

Welcome to our weekly round-up and furstly sorry fur not posting this week, but we insisted that the P.A. took time-out to recoup aftur her door-frame headbutting incident last week.  The good news is the P.A. is fine, just tired with a bruised head, the bad news is, it didn't knock any sense into her! MOL

So in all honesty this week has been a bit of a wash-out, though we did get some time in the garden... much to Pandora's chagrin....

But then this happened once we were all back inside...

The completely brazen pedigree cat from next door invaded our garden and trespassed all offur it... can mew believe it and just typical that the Kraken has taken the week off! MOL

And if mew missed anything during the last week, [not that there was much to show - ooops!] so we've added a few extra mystery links just fur your enjoyment:

We'll be back our usual Selfie Selection on Sunday, so hope mew can join us then.

In the meantime we wish mew all an epically epic weekend!

Parsley Sauces Supurr Sunday Safari on The Sunday Selfies Blog Hop with Cat on my Head #153

Supurr Sunday Salutations Pawesome Pals

Welcome to another selfie selection, and today we've got something a little bit different, as today Parsley is taking offur.

Quickly before we begin his solo selfie mission, the P.A. had a bit of an accident on Thursday evening; she went to pick up Fudge, and unfortunately her flip flop slipped and got caught under the doormat and she lost her balance and fell, the good news is door-frame stopped her splatting completely on the floor, the bad news is that the side of her head took the full brunt of the impact. So mew can imagine, her head is bruised and her neck and shoulder are jarred through the awkward way she fell.  We are monitoring her closely, as obviously these kind of injuries aren't to be taken lightly.  So far so good, but it may mean that The Last Big Jolly may be late this week, but we'll see how we go.

And now onto the main event, the field was cut and baled last week, so it makes a 4 acre kitty sized savanna.... mmmmm purrfect fur hunting now... so lets see what Mister Sauce aka Parsley does when he leaves the Bionic Basil HQ Compound and goes exploring or as we call it:- SPLORIN'.

So our theme today is:-

Hooligan Kittens and Cat Gods are Back on The Pet Parade Blog Hop #204 with Rascal & Rocco Co-Hosted by Basil & Barking from the Bayou

background image NextMars used under licence from shutterstock.com

Pawesome Friday greeting wunderpurr furriends

Welcome to our weekly round-up and furstly, yes I am feeling much better aftur my rather inconvenient pancreatitis flare-up last week.  I've got my new homeopathic drops and so far so good.

In other news, obviously the P.A. and Dad need to get another hobby, I left them alone in the craft room for a couple of hours on Sunday afturnoon with a pile of cardboard that was destined fur the bonfire, but then this happened...

Mew've heard of the Parthenon, aka the Greek Temple to the Goddess Athena, well
they built...

The Purrthenon

Actually, I really like it as my GOD-LIKE STATUS has been reinstated purrmanently! MOL

I can now get worshiped propurrly by hordes of minions, my life is now at its zenith! MOL

The P.A. and Dad were going to paint it white and dolly it up a bit, but then they had the notion to make it out of timber instead, with a felt roof so it can go in the garden, which I think is a tremendous idea.  So this one is going next door fur the kittens to destroy, oh and speaking of kittens, just take a look at these young heathens, if effur there were any purrfect future recruits fur the B Team, these young hooligans are them! MOL

The P.A.'s cousin was trying so hard not to laugh while the P.A. was filming, and her Aunty is dismayed because her luffley flower beds have been decimated! OOPS - BAD KITTENS!!! MOL MOL MOL

We think Kitten-Watch is epic, best TV effur!

So that about sums it up fur this week.  Just before we go, next week we've got a supur special post with the chance to win a $1500 scholarship fur designing a cat bed which if they win will go into production, how cool is that? Pawesomely cool, so we'll be posting all about it asap.

And if mew missed anything during the last week, here's the latest links fur your purrusal!

Crafting With Cats ~ Part IV ~ How To Make A Rainbow Pom Pom Hammock

Welcome to

Supurr Greetings Pawesome Pals

Thanks fur joining fur us fur Part IV of our Crafting with Cats segment. Sorry The Last Big Jolly isn't here today, that's been rescheduled fur Thursday due my pancreatitis flare up last week - many apologies fur the inconvenience but I'm sure mew'll luff this post just as much!

If mew'd like to see our previous CWC posts click here and learn how to make Merlin's Wizard Hat.  And if mew missed out on how to make our Supurr Hero's cape, click here. And fur the Magical Kitty lantern click here.

This week we're making this!

What Mew Will Need:

A gazillion pom poms [MOL just kidding 1000 x 1" should suffice!]
Glue gun and lots of glue sticks
Fabric backing
Timber and wood screws
Saw
Drill
Paint - if mew want to paint it. [We used white gloss.]
Staple gun and/or upholstery tacks
A length of ribbon or trim

Now we made a supurr king size cat hammock, so if mew make a small one then obviously mew'll use less pom poms, glue and timber etc...

Optional cat/s fur snoopervising and general assistance

Are mew ready?

We'll start with the supurr easy bit

Furst, we'd suggest than mew sort the pom poms out, keeping the colours separate. Luckily we had a few spare baskets this week, absolutely purrfect timing as they ended up as pom pom sorters.

Next get your fabric, cut it to size and give it a quick iron, then place it on a flat surface.

Now we're hot gluing straight onto the fabric, so if mew luffs your table purrlease protect it as the glue will soak through and possibly ruin the finish.  Our table is purely fur crafting/sewing/painting etc... so we just give it a good clean between projects.

Ok, get your glue gun ready, oh and do make sure mew have plenty of glue sticks.

We ran out at this point and the P.A. had to do a quick re-order! MOL

Thank Cod fur Amazon Prime...

And voila approximately 800 pom poms later [MOL!] and we're ready to move onto the frame. I did have to come and snoopervise the P.A. at this point and do my 'quality control check' fur loose pom poms, and yes, they're all firmly stuck in place.

*     *     *

Making The Frame

I do suggest mew familiarize yourself with the wood mew are going to be using, I do take my wurk furry seriously so this step did take quite a while.

Furst mew need to cut 8 lengths the same and 4 spacers.

Check that mew are putting it together squarely, I had to intervene at this point with my purrtractor just to check! MOL  Aftur rigorous checking the second one was made.

Place the spacers on the corners and then place the second square on top and screw together.  So mew have something like this below.  We suggest that mew pre-drill the screw holes, as this makes it so much easier.
So now your frame is complete, mew can either leave it au natural or mew can paint it.  We used gloss paint.

Putting it all together!

Now comes the really fun part, putting the hammock onto the frame.  Now mew'll notice here that the pom poms don't go all the way to the edge of the frame, well there's method in our madness which will be revealed in a moment.

So now mew need to place the pom pom hammock onto the frame and get a gentle fall happening towards the middle of the frame.  Staple one side, then the opposite side furst, then repeat on the two remaining sides.  Slowly wurk your away around the entire frame until it looks like the bottom right picture.  Trim off any excess fabric, so mew have a nice clean edge.  Take the remainder of your pom poms and finish gluing them right up to the edge of the frame, so mew have a purrfect edge.  Finally mew can use a wide ribbon or upholstery trim to cover the staples.  We opted fur a nice wide blue grosgrain ribbon and glued it on as at the final hurdle the P.A. couldn't find her upholstery pins/tacks.

And finally, mew should have something like this ~ isn't it epically epic or what!?

So what was The 'B' Teams verdict?

Well actually we luffs it, Amber got furst dibs when it was in the lounge.  Pandora and Fudge were circling like sharks as she got her boose comfy.

Then it was moved into its final position upstairs in the new office under the corner desk, where Smoochie promptly got himself, his catnip nana and Mr Ratty installed post haste! MOL

I also actually spent the weekend convalescing on it, so I can safely say the hammock was a total hit, so much so that the P.A. is making two more smaller ones so there's plenty to go around!

*    *    *

And that furriends furry sadly brings us to the end of our fourth crafting with cats post, we do hope mew liked it and if mew decide to make your furry own Rainbow Pom Pom Hammock  we'd love to see it.

Feel free to post your pawesome crafty pics on our Facebook page at:

And if there's anything mew'd like us to make, leave a comment and we'll do our best.

We'll be back on Thursday with Part 2 of The Last Big Jolly and hope to see mew then!
