Getting My Glow On on The Sunday Selfies Blog Hop with Cat on my Head

Supurr Sunday salutations pawesome pals

Welcome to another selfie selection and today...

...our theme is:

Getting My Glow On

Smooch, Pandora, Parsley and myself were most fortunate to get outside to take our selfies in some glorious sunshine.  Amber and Fudge didn't need any sunshine because they're already glowing orange! MOL

But seriously, Fudge is under house-arrest again because last time he went outside he was on the roof again... tsk... tsk... and Amber being her pawesomely crotchety-self is more than happy to neffur go outside again!

We hope mew're all having a fantastic weekend and have recovered from your Thanksgiving Feasts.

Guest Post: Create The Purrfect Environment For Your Happy Kitty

BBHQ Guest Post Banner ©BionicBasil®

Welcome to our

http://picasion.com/gl/8Cl1/

Segment

Today Kaylin Stinski from www.petwellnessadvisor.com is joining us to talk about how to....

Create The Purrfect Environment For Your Happy Kitty

Cats are naturally predators and adventurers, they love exploring, climbing, and finding high places to perch. When we keep our cats inside we repress the ability for them to express these needs and desires which can cause cats to become unhealthy and unhappy.

Food

Cats were born to hunt, placing a food bowl on the floor doesn’t satisfy their desire for hunting for their meal. Instead, try to make feeding containers for your cat to play with in order to earn food. For example, you can take a small container that has a reusable lid, like a yogurt container, and put holes in it that are large enough for kibble to come out. Fill the container with your cat’s normal amount of dry food and let them play with it. Your cat may rattle it or bat at it until the food comes out of the container. Another option is to place the food bowl somewhere other than the floor. Try placing the food container on a countertop or a shelf to encourage your cat to explore and look for their food.

Scratching

Cats naturally scratch to sharpen their claws, mark their territory, and helps stretch out their back. You will find at the pet store that there are so many options for cat scratching posts. Find what fits best in your budget and consider buying a few for different areas of the house. Some of these posts can attach to a wall or a cabinet while others can be vertical or horizontal.

Refuge

Cats are social when they want to be and not a second before. It is important to provide a space for them in which they can retreat from social activities going on in the house. The best type of refuge is one that is high up where the cat can perch and survey what is going on from a distance. Provide multiple beds or refuges throughout the house so your cat has many places they can use. Some favorite spots are attached to a window, or on top of a bookshelf. Make sure that no matter where your kitties perch is, that it is safe and secure. The litter box is also a place of refuge for many cats. Make sure that your litter box is in a quiet place away from noises, people, and other animals. Some people like to

Playing

If you don’t give your cat something to do, your cat will find something to entertain themselves with. Toys are a great way of satisfying predatory instincts and also give your cat some exercise. There are many different types of toys out there to purchase but you can also make your own toys. Some people get very creative and make their own cat toys with catnip inside them. You cat is very social, so spending time with them and playing is always great to help keep them happy and also helps you relax and be happy too!

Outside

Allowing your cat to spend time outside can increase the risk of your cat getting injured or diseases from other cats. If you really want to give your cat outdoor time, make sure you are able to give them a safe environment such as being on a leash and harness or creating an outdoor playroom for them to enjoy. If creating an outdoor playroom for your cat isn’t feasible you can always bring the indoors in. You can make a planter with grass that is big enough for your cat to lie and stretch out on. Cats love chewing and rubbing against plants, but make sure the plants are not irritants or poisonous.

There are lots of places in which you can purchase products for your cat to have a happy environment. Some products have multiple features such as cat trees that have multiple perches, can be used as a scratching post, and some even have toys attached to them to encourage play. If you purchase one that has multiple perches you can even feed your cat on one of them. All of these features will help you create the purrfect environment for your kitty.

Happy Thanksgiving And A Special Shout Out To Keighly Cat Care on The Pet Parade Blog Hop #223 with Rascal & Rocco Co-Hosted by Basil & Barking from the Bayou

Friday greetings wunderpurr pals

Welcome to our weekly round-up on The Pet Parade. And we hope all our fabulous furriends offur the pond had a totally wunderpurr Thanksgiving yesterday!

We had a modest picnic in the forest as usual, though it was furry sad not to have Snowie and Humphrey with us this year, but we know they were there in spirit with Posie too.

We had a special toast to absent furrmily and furriends and gave thanks fur all the blessings in our lives.

Oh and before we furget, last night one of our pawesome twitter pals Angel RZ who actually looks just like me, asked if we could give a special shout out to

Keighley Cat Care

who wurk tirelessly in the purrsuit of feline rescue and re-homing up in Yorkshire [which is just offur 60 miles away from us].

Check out their adoption page, as there are some beautiful kitties looking fur their purrfect hooman right now!

Are mew that special hooman?

And if mew can, go give them a like on their Facebook page and let them know what an epically epic job they're doing.

Or follow them on twitter and share the adoptable kitty tweets if mew can.

Woo Hoo to all the epically epic peeps at Keighly Cat Care ~ Thank Mew!!!!

Moving on, in other news, we've had a few peeps of late ask us to do some sponsored product posts, so we'll be sharing those with mew offur coming weeks.

Also normal programming should resume in a couple of weeks as we're coming to the penultimate episode of The Last Big Jolly next week, so while in one respect we'll be delighted to conclude our 15 part adventure, on the other paw it means that it will be the last purroper adventure with all The B Team fur a while.

Anyhoo it's time fur us to go clean up yesterdays mess, as the P.A. will go mental if she sees we've left any litter about - well mew can't pick litter up in the dark when mew have too much nip rum!! MOL

Oh and we haven't put the P.A. out to pasture yet, as rather bizarrely we've not had much interest in last weeks fabulous job offur of a lifetime!

Colouring with Cats #42 ~ Getting Your OM on with Mandalas on Mondays

Supurr Monday greetings beautiful furriends

How are mew on this fine and frosty morning?  The temperatures dropped down to zero here on Friday evening and have stayed purretty cool fur the entire weekend so we've been doing a spot of reclining in front of the fire, as to be honest it was a bit fresh outside fur our paws! MOL

Actually all things considered the average daily temperatures have been quite high fur the time of year, we measure this by how many jumpers, body warmers and coats the P.A. wears, and up until Friday it was just a jumper and body warmer - like seriously that is unheard of fur mid to late November, she's usually bundled up with jacket, scarf and gloves too and they say there's no such thing as climate change - PHOOEY!!!

So hows climate change affecting your weather patterns?

Anyhoo, we do hope mew've all have a totally pawesome weekend and that mew're ready fur the week ahead, so let's jump right in and start as always with our little breathing exercise, which we're sure mew all have down paw by now...  but if mew've furgotten, stop what mew're doing fur a moment and take deep fulfilling breaths; counting to five on the inhale and five on the exhale:

Breathe in
Breathe out

Breathe in
Breathe out

Breathe in
Breathe out

Don't mew feel better already?  I know we do!

As I said we were enjoying the warmth of the wood-burner, so this was our OM-ing sesh this week... we call it 'Triangulation OM-ing' and let me tell mew, our Zen Harmonies were so ZEN aftur this it was quite unbelievable, so if mew can get three of mew together we highly recommend this purractice fur maximum zen-ness!
